Commission of Inquiry Concerning Non-observance by Myanmar of the Convention No. 87 and No. 29
At its 344th Session (March 2022) the Governing Body established, of its own motion, in accordance with article 26(4) of the Constitution a Commission of Inquiry concerning non- observance by Myanmar of the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 (No. 87), and the Forced Labour Convention, 1930 (No. 29). It appointed the members of the Commission at its 345th Session (June 2022).[1] The Commission of Inquiry adopted its report on 4 August 2023.[2]
The Governing Body of the International Labour Office is the executive body of the International Labour Organization (the Office is the secretariat of the Organization). It meets three times a year, in March, June and November. It takes decisions on ILO policy, decides the agenda of the International Labour Conference, adopts the draft Programme and Budget of the Organization for submission to the Conference, and elects the Director-General.
The 352nd Session of the Governing Body is going to be held from 28th Oct to 7th November, 2024. The agenda of the session includes, at Agenda[3] No. 11, to discuss follow-up to the report of the Commission of Inquiry concerning the non-observance by Myanmar of the Convention No. 87 and No. 29.
